Mark’s story inspires our mission to advance cancer research, support doctors like Dr. Matthew Taylor, and make life-saving treatments accessible through education and advocacy.
Metastatic melanoma affects countless lives worldwide. It's a pervasive and aggressive cancer that demands collaborative efforts in research, treatment, and support.
Our mission, in memory of Mark, is to support innovative cancer research and provide hope. We champion oncologists like Dr. Matthew Taylor and strive to make life-saving treatments accessible through education, community involvement, and advocacy.
Our World Turned
Upside Down
In February 2012, our lives took a devastating turn when Mark was diagnosed with stage 4b metastatic melanoma. The prognosis was grim—tumors had spread to his liver, lungs, right ventricle of his heart, and muscle tissue throughout his body. Initially, we didn’t expect him to live more than a few months.
However, Mark defied the odds and lived for an incredible ten years—a full decade! This remarkable survival was a testament to the advancements in cancer research for metastatic melanoma. We were incredibly fortunate to discover Providence Cancer Institute. Dr. Walter Urba, and later Dr. Matthew Taylor, played pivotal roles in transforming our lives.
10 more years
Thanks to incredible oncologists and groundbreaking life-saving treatments, Mark lived a productive and active life for a full decade—until February 2022. His journey was a testament to the advancements in cancer treatment and the power of hope.
A Beacon of Hope
Mark’s oncologist, Dr. Matthew Taylor, was conducting research on a promising therapy that Mark believed could have extended his life or even cured his cancer if it had been available. Mark was passionate about supporting Dr. Taylor’s efforts to make this drug accessible to others seeking more time or a cure.

Continuing Mark’s Legacy
“Six months after Mark’s passing, I attended a presentation by Dr. Taylor. As he explained how his research could enhance the immune system’s ability to fight various cancers, I felt compelled to get involved. Mark’s legacy lives on through our support of this vital research.”
